HLF Application Update

Our second round application to the Heritage Lottery Fund has been submitted, after a last minute delay due to their website being out of action for a week.  The meeting to make the decision will be on Friday 13th June so we hope members will be able to come along to the AGM to celebrate the success (or commiserate)!

This application has involved an enormous amount of work by our committee and by the contractors funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.  Our Quantity Surveyor reviewed all the building costs and another company produced a comprehensive plan for the future maintenance of the building.  For the Activity Plan, Natalie Katona, who has a background in historical education, developed a scheme of activities for the period while the building work is being carried out and helped improve our overall plan.  Cathy Watson Associates carried out a survey of local views which has resulted in new interest and useful links as well as supporting our application.

The final application sets out all the details about the planned building work together with how the building will operate for two years supported by the grant.  The refurbishment and the following activity will help build a vibrant and sustainable future for Bridge Cottage.

If the grant is approved we will be holding events to show people how they can help as volunteers, including working with school groups, supporting public events or helping with local history queries but there is no need to wait – if  you would like to be involved in any way please get in touch.
