Rocks Park Primary School visited us yesterday for a workshop on the history of soup.

Our Education officer Maria demonstrated a 17th Century pottage on our open fire. Year 5 Pupils used pestle and mortars to prepare herbs and ingredients. They also tried on period costumes and learnt about life for a child who would have lived at Bridge Cottage in the 17th Century. Our education officer Nicola and volunteer Tricia helped Year 5 create their own food timelines, placing pulses, vegetables, herbs and nuts in order of their introduction to our tables throughout time from the Prehistoric period right up to modern day.
