Walls are underpinned!

We are delighted to begin to show some pictures from the works at the Cottage.

This month the major task of underpinning was started and is very near completion.  It has been a painstaking job owing to the archaeology found and having to be excavated slowly by hand.  The holes are then filled with concrete and brickwork to attain the correct levels, drying times has slowed the process and making sure that each section is secure before moving on to the next.  Images are from the room that housed the Lions bookshop.

Archaeology found to date has been masonry we believe to be footings to previous structures.  More details to follow when we have the full report.

Keep coming back for updates!
