The third ‘Scrapbook’ talk by Chris Horlock is another miscellany of Sussex history, anecdotes and folklore. Featured this time are the white horse at Litlington, Henfield’s Cat House, ruinous villages under the sea off Littlehampton and the bizarre tale of Sir Goddard Oxenbridge, of Brede, supposedly a seven foot ogre who ate children. There’s the story of the book ‘Peter Pan’ originating from games played in a Rustington garden, how the village of Treyford somehow lost both of its churches, and a look at two of the most extraordinary graves in the whole of Sussex, both at Withyham.
