TOP SECRET SUSSEX: WW2 sites. Come to our next evening talk on Thursday 3rd November 6-7pm. One of our education officers here, Nicola Stewart, will talk about interesting military presence in the area during WW2 such as: The top secret radio transmitter, code named Aspidistra, sited at Kings Standing on Ashdown Forest; HMS Forward: secret tunnels at South Heighton, Newhaven, a ‘stone frigate’ naval base; Secret Operations Executive (SOE) agent Diana Rowden who lived locally at Hadlow Down.
