We are delighted to announce that The Uckfield and District Preservation Society (UDPS) has received a confirmed grant of £1,017,600 from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) for our Bridge Cottage Heritage Centre Renovation Project.  Our project aims to make Bridge Cottage, a Grade II Listed building, into a usable and sustainable building by addressing its current physical shortcomings.

Once the work is completed it will create an historic meeting place available to the whole community for present and future generations to enjoy.  The vision of UDPS is to use a range of heritage activities and means of interpretation to enable all sectors of the growing town of Uckfield to understand and appreciate their heritage.  These will include educational programmes at all levels, hands on heritage activities for all ages, local history and craft events, and the creation of a heritage hub for historical research.

Work is planned to start this autumn, with a planned opening in late 2015.
